Making a difference means building a brand that
defends transparency, empowers all peoplein the
supply chain and ensure the health of our let the
beautiful planet be the most important thing before
every decision we make.
We are very aware of global warming and must reduce our impact on the planet to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial global temperatures. We are very proud that Peru is taking great strides toward becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
That’s why we choose only natural fibers, for their natural beauty, their sustainable aesthetic, which is maintained throughout the life cycle of all our accessories.
Our goals are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are the guiding lights to protect our planet as we know it, starting with protecting our country, Peru, which is considered one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet.
OUR SUPPLIERS
Our accessories are made using rustic Merino wool from the Andes, carefully sheared by the shepherds themselves and then spun and carded in Lima at a small family business, Lanas Andinas, with whom we have had a business relationship for over 14 years.
Rustic Merino wool is strong and durable, but it biodegrades naturally when the time comes. It uses significantly less energy during its production than the manufacture of artificial fibers.
Its production generates fewer carbon dioxide emissions and therefore has a low environmental impact.
For dyeing, we used Lanaset dyes, which are biodegradable and low impact, and we still decided not to use solid colors to minimize the use of dyes.
The embroidery is done with Peruvian cotton of domestic production, grown from non-genetically modified seeds, dealing directly with La Colonial Fábrica de Hilos S.A.
For the making of the bags, we use rustic Peruvian cotton canvas from the San Jacinto S.A. factory, which is then, in the ecological dye house Eco-Tintes, in Chancay, north of Lima, dyed with plants along with our yarns.
All our metal accessories are made of zamac, an alloy of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and kupfer (copper). It is a material created by the New Jersey Zinc Company in the 1920s; its name is a German acronym of the materials that make up the alloy.
OUR PROCESSES
We preserve our textile heritage in 100% of our creations.
100% handmade, one at a time.
Our weaving and embroidery represent 90% of our total production and are done in the sunlight.
Our dyes are biodegradable and have a low environmental impact.
Our Peruvian cotton is non-GMO and locally grown.
WE ARE PROUD OF THE PROGRESS WE HAVE ALREADY MADE IN RECOVERING TECHNIQUES THAT ARE ALMOST NO LONGER USED, SUCH AS DOUBLE-SIDED BACKStrap LOOM WEAVING.
